Inside star-studded pre-Met Gala party with daring outfits and groovy dancing

Preparations for the 2025 Met Gala are in full swing, which has, of course, included a raucous pre-Met party.
The annual glitzy fundraising tradition will return to the Metropolitan Museum of Art tomorrow night as some of showbusiness’s biggest stars grace the carpet.
This year, the theme is Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, honouring the artistry and cultural influence of Black fashion.
Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour will be on hand, as ever, to oversee every minor detail, while Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Pharrell Williams will co-chair the event.
But before the inevitable flapping and stressing of Monday night as stylists pray to God that their creations still fit and MUAs work their magic, there was a chance for the A-listers to let their hair down.
Offering an insight into the wild pre-Met Gala party for us peasants not in attendance, Vogue Magazine took to TikTok—and it’s safe to say things got pretty spicy.
A video shared with their seven million followers captured just a snippet of the antics inside the New York City bash, known as their First Friday in May party.
Rapper A$AP Rocky, real name Rakim Athelaston Mayers, hosted the do, along with fellow musician Doechii, photographer Tyler Mitchell, and fashion stylist Law Roach.
Keen to be the hostess with the mostess, Anxiety hitmaker Doechii, 26, was filmed shaking her booty as live music blared and cameras flashed.
Also on the dancefloor, The Bear actress Ayo Edebiri threw some super slick shapes before A$AP turned it up a notch and created a mosh pit.
Meanwhile, Grammy nominee Omar Apollo grooved away, looking suave in his suit, and pouty Dutch model Imaan Hammam worked the floor with a shimmy.

Of course, it remains to be seen who will turn heads with their outrageous outfits at the actual Gala, but the pre party has given us plenty of reasons to be hopeful for another successful Met.
From gaudy prints to chic silk and from bold colours to baggy tailoring, last night certainly wet our appetite as we gear up to judge our favourite celebs’ ensembles while slobbing around in our pyjamas.
And taking to the comments, it seems the rest of the internet is buzzing for the 2025 Met.
‘Black people out here having a ole good time periodt and that makes me so happy’, commented @queenofthehill325 underneath Vogue’s joyous video montage.
‘This is about to be the MOST WELL DRESSED MET GALA cause everyone in this clip DONT PLAY 🔥🫶🏼’, said @vtiredofthis.

‘This Met gala is going to be memorable’, echoed @jonathan.fdc.
‘i can’t wait until Monday!!!’, added @just_liketeezus.
The 2025 Gala follows the 2024 event, which welcomed the likes of Kim Kardashian and Lana Del Rey with a Garden of Time dress code to mirror The Met’s Sleeping Beauty exhibition.
Each spring, the Gala brings together absolute titans of music, acting, and everything in between, and while the full guest list has not been publicised, we do know that there’ll be a committee of members who attend.
These include Edward Enninful, Janelle Monáe, Tyla, Usher, Olivier Rousteing, and Simone Biles, to name a few—roll on Monday night!
