Man charged and NAMED after ‘arson attacks hit FIVE city centre stores’

The incidents occurred in the city centre as five separate fires were deliberately started between 3.30am and 4am this morning (Thursday, March 13), say Thames Valley Police.
Officers say these fires were caused by setting the rubbish put out by businesses alight on New Inn Hall Street, Queen Street and Cornmarket Street.
US chicken shop Popeyes, Pret A Manger, Bravissimo, Scribbler and Fat Face all suffered fires outside their Oxford city centre stores.

Detective Sergeant Matthew Gorman, of Oxford CID, said ON Thursday: “I understand these arson attacks may be alarming but I want to reassure businesses and the public that we have made an arrest and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with these offences.
“We are also working with the affected businesses and other traders in the city centre.
“I am appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information about this series of arsons to please come forward.
“If you have CCTV cameras in the area, I’d also ask that you check your recordings in case it has captured something that could assist our investigation.
