N. Korea test-fires ballistic missiles as S. Korea begins annual military drills with US

South Korea’s military on Monday said that North Korea detected “multiple unidentified ballistic missiles” from Hwanghae province into the West Sea. The event occured on the same day as Seoul and Washington began a major annual joint military drill known as Freedom Shield, which they describe as defensive in nature.
