Pixel 9 Pro price slashed by £200 as Google discounts Pixel range
Google has just launched the entry-level Pixel 9a for £499 but the real deal might be on its premium sibling.
The flagship Pixel 9 Pro is currently available for £799, down from £999, making life that bit harder for upgraders. That’s a mighty saving of £200 (20 per cent) squarely aimed at bargain hunters looking to snag a premium phone for less.
Or, for £100 more, you can grab the Pixel 9 Pro XL (with its larger 6.8-inch screen vs a 6.3-inch display on other Pixel phones), following a similar price cut.
With Google’s once budget-friendly Pixel range creeping into iPhone price territory, it’s a much-needed discount at the halfway stage before an annual refresh in August.
Which Pixel phone should you buy?
Alongside the Pixel 9 Pro discount, Google has shaved £150 off the regular Pixel 9 (now £649) and £250 from the ultra high-end Pixel 9 Pro Fold (now £1,499).

So, which Pixel phone is right for you? Well, that depends on your budget and the features you’re after.
If you want the best display (including the highest brightness and best refresh rate), improved durability and the most powerful camera, the Pixel 9 Pro is the phone for you.
On the other hand, if you want the best battery – and don’t mind settling for lower RAM and a downgraded screen – the Pixel 9a should be top of your list. The wallet-pleasing £499 price should seal the deal for budget-conscious shoppers.
You can seamlessly remove objects and people from photos, merge multiple shots to include the person behind the camera in a group picture, and capture moving images in more detail at night.

Although these perks are available across the entire range (barring some exceptions on the Pixel 9a), on the 9 Pro they are paired with a solid camera. There are three lenses on the back of the phone, versus two on the regular Pixel 9 and 9a, which should result in superior pics whether you use the AI fakery or not.
If it wasn’t obvious by now, the Pixel is all-in on artificial intelligence. Google has even replaced its old Assistant (a Siri-like digital helper) with the Gemini AI chatbot. And, with the Pixel 9 Pro, you get a year’s worth of free access to the most advanced version of the software, which normally costs £18.99 a month.
How much you’ll use it depends on your enthusiasm for AI. If you already rely on tools like ChatGPT for work, meal planning or travel tips, you’ll feel right at home. For everyone else, it might just fade into the background.
